BC Government Clean BC Heat Pump Grant
Starting June 18, 2024, the new CleanBC Better Homes Energy Savings Program will make electric heat pumps and other efficiency upgrades more accessible and affordable for low- and middle-income households in BC. The grant money is limited and as such we at Blue Flame are encouraging our customers to start the process as soon as possible. We believe the BC $150 million will be used up quickly and as the grant funds are limited you do not want to miss out on this opportunity to upgrade your heating and cooling system with a new heat pump system. This initiative aims to help residents save on energy bills, enhance home comfort, and contribute to building cleaner, more resilient communities.
Maximum Rebate Amount
Eligible applicants can receive up to $21,000 for a heat pump installation, potentially covering the entire cost.
Who Can Apply?
B.C. residents living in eligible homes who meet income qualifications and have a residential utility account with BC Hydro, FortisBC, or a municipal utility.
Qualifying Products
Products must be installed by a Program Registered Contractor Blue Flame is recognized and qualified as per the requirements of the program.
Funding Provided By
The Government of Canada, the Province of British Columbia, and BC Hydro. This program is different in that it is set up as a pre approval which means funding is provide up front as a grant instead of a rebate. This will streamline the process so residents do not need in many cases to pre pay. In fact the grant should cover up to 100% of the upgrade or closed to it.

Grant / Rebate Details - NEW MIDDLE INCOME NOW QUALIFIES!
Income-qualified applicants can receive substantial rebates to switch to high-efficiency heat pumps from oil, natural gas, and propane heating systems. Additional rebates are available for necessary electrical system upgrades.
Starting June 18, 2024, Residents can receive a combined total rebate of up to $21,000 in BC Grant Money. In many cases this will cover the heating and cooling upgrade.
TO QUALIFY
Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

Live in a primary residence that is at least 12 months old and valued at or under $1,230,000 for income levels 1 and 2. Homes valued above this must meet income level 3 qualifications.
Have a utility account with BC Hydro, FortisBC, or a municipal utility.
Ensure their home is one of the following types:

Single-family home
Secondary suite in a single-family home with a separate utility meter
Permanently fixed mobile home on a foundation
Duplex, triplex, row home, or townhome with individual natural gas or electricity meters

For renters, obtain a landlord consent form.

Pay their own energy utility bills.

You Must Pre-register and receive an eligibility code before completing the upgrade.
